Intro Page I
This story begins with the cold winter of 1,000 AD in Clwyd-Rhan. But really, it begins with four small-time bandits going on a journey nine years earlier. They were: Tamlin. Then 40. Officially the leader of the gang, unofficially a fat-bellied drunk. Ragnarok. Then 25, and pretty much the brains of the outfit. Jake the Gnome, of whom the less said the better. Atra. Then 51. A daft old woman who ate soap a lot. Also, a witch. Their quest: to find the Magic Belt of Invincibility, owned by a big green-bearded bastard in a forest infested with elves. He was a bit of a traditionalist. So, heads rolled.
Ha, ha, ha!

This page was originally published online on July 1, 2000 and marked the official start of Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan in English after an earlier publication in Dutch in the mid-1990s went nowhere. This is why what you're getting is another intro page: this was the first an international readership saw of the characters back in 2000. The one significant character not introduced in this four-strip sequence is the title character, Duchess Guðrún, who had a major role in the one long story that I've so far refused to put online, King's Drama, because it needed a major redraw and rewrite. That story was supposed to take place between The Stone of Contention and The Faerie and the Earth-Pig. So Duchess Guðrún is presumed to be known, whereas all the series lead characters you've been reading about for almost a year on this site are not. Sorry about that.
