A young cop's fancy, and an old cop's dream

Hogsworth, his men and his arrestees are marching through the forest.
Bertie: Dad, is this really necessary?
Hogsworth: Shut up. I've half a mind to put you in the stocks for being a bloody useless waste of space.
Guard: Sheriff!
Hogsworth: ...What?
The guard points at plumes of smoke in the distance.
Guard: ...Over there.
Hogsworth: Fascinating! If we're really lucky, we just might have a long night's work on our hands.
They march on.
Hogsworth: Of course, it may just be another boring forest fire... but let an old man have his dreams!
Kel: Is he always like this?
Owen: For him? This is STABLE!
